Office/Farm Policy

Dear Clients and Families:

It is a pleasure to work with you or a member of your family. Office hours at Windswept are by appointment only, on weekends and weekday evenings. As Windswept also provides riding lessons, and has boarders who ride at the stables there are specific hours and times that are available for therapy. While confidentiality is a primary concern for clients it may be difficult to schedule sessions so that clients and/or their family members are the only individuals on the property at the time of their appointment. Sessions may be conducted in the pasture, in the barn, or in the riding arenas. When I am working with a client, individuals are asked to refrain from conversing with me or requesting my assistance for barn related concerns. However, as I am the owner and barn manager there may be emergencies or critical questions that need to be answered and clients may need to allow some flexibility with interruptions.

Equine Assisted Therapy is based on interactions with the horses in primarily non-riding activities. Equine Assisted Therapy is not Therapeutic Riding and is not Riding Instruction; therefore, clients should understand that the goals of Equine Assisted Therapy are client centered but not directed toward improved horse handling or riding skills.

Safety and Privacy are of primary concern at Windswept therefore clients and families are asked to abide by the safety rules of the barn and visit the barn according to their scheduled appointments. Client contact hours are based on an hourly rate, however, phone contact, document preparation and review that is of a clinical nature may incur an additional fee. This does not include phone calls to schedule sessions. Clients are required to pay for their session with a personal check or cash at the conclusion of each session. Equine Assisted Therapy is not currently recognized in Pennsylvania for Insurance reimbursement, however, clients may wish to submit and I will provide monthly billing statements as needed.
